What to Actually Test During a Clinic Software Free Trial

Most free trials get spent clicking around a dashboard for ten minutes and forming an impression from the interface alone. That tells you almost nothing about whether the software will actually hold up on a real, busy day.

What to actually do during the trial

Book a full, realistic day

Not three test appointments — book what a genuinely busy day at your clinic looks like, including the awkward cases: two patients arriving close together, a walk-in needing to be slotted in, a doctor who's only available for part of the day.

Generate a real prescription and a real invoice

Check that the prescription actually carries the doctor's qualification and registration number without extra manual entry. Check that the invoice is clean and itemised, and that generating it doesn't feel like a separate chore bolted onto the end of a visit.

Try to break the calendar

Deliberately attempt to double-book a slot, or book outside a doctor's stated working hours. Good software should refuse or warn immediately — if it lets you do either silently, that's exactly the kind of gap that only shows up for real once you're relying on it.

Export your data

Before you decide anything, try exporting your patients or appointments to a file. If that's not possible during a trial, it's worth asking why — and whether it'll be possible later, when it actually matters.

Add a second staff login

If you run with a front desk or a second doctor, invite them during the trial and check what they can and can't see. This is the fastest way to find out whether roles are real boundaries or just hidden buttons.

What a good trial should require of you

No card, no sales call, and full access to test the actual daily workflow — booking, prescribing, billing — not a stripped-down demo version. If a trial gates the features you'd actually need to evaluate, it isn't really letting you test the product.

seven days, no card, nothing to configure first

Sign up and you're immediately at full Professional-tier limits for 7 days — enough time to actually run your clinic's real week through it. No card required.
